I’ve known Mick Haley since 1976 when he coached at Kellogg Community College in Michigan. An accomplished athlete at Ball State University and a successful coaching career as Head Coach at the University of Texas, USA Volleyball and University of Southern California, success followed Mick along the way. It was at USA Volleyball that I had the opportunity to work with Mick at USA Volleyball in preparation for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. The work that Mick and staff exhibited during the quadrennium was truly a rebuilding effort. By the 2000 Olympic Games, the women’s team who was ranked 11th in the world finished 4th behind the perennial powerhouses of Cuba, Russia and Brazil.
Mick Haley has demonstrated time and time again that success on the field of play is based on comprehensive planning, knowledge, skill and experience of the sport at all levels of play and a passion for the game!
